  • How it Works

The races are held under the UK Athletics rules so not all races are suitable for those with a form of handicap so such persons need to approach the race organiser to check suitability. The use of head phones on road races are banned by the UKA and club vests must be worn to qualify for team prizes.

There are currently 18 SGP races of which your best 8 only count, so you do not need to run every race for maximum points. At least two of the 18 must be 10 miles or more. The current race calendar is below. Each Waddie finisher in any of the 18 SGP races earn points depending on their race place (eliminating non SGP members from the results). The first overall SGP finisher earns 500 points, the second 499, and so on, for both the men and ladies categories.

The members points earned by the top 10 men and ladies of each team are accumulated and the combined points govern the clubs overall position. Awards are given to the overall top three men and ladies teams; the top three Open teams as well as the top three Veteran teams.

The individuals points are also used to determine their position related to their age categories which are every 5 year age band from 40 for men and 35 for the ladies. At the end of the season trophies are awarded to the top three of every age group and the Waddies usually have a good sprinkling of category winners.
