Cross Country
(East Sussex Cross Country League)
The East Sussex Sunday Cross Country League consists of teams compiled from 23 East Sussex clubs. In each season there are six cross country events of approximately five miles. The season runs from October to March, and are approximately once a month usually with three before Christmas and three after. Courses vary from open downland to very muddy woodland courses (proper cross country!)
The Waddies have a strong presence in Cross Country (XC) and we make a bit of a morning of it, with home-made cakes and real team spirit. All abilities are welcome and we cheer on everyone, from the fastest to the slowest (and all those in-between). We have a designated XC Captain, Iain Willatt, and whilst some of our members are true mud warriors, others just come along for the camaraderie and to get out in some glorious areas of Sussex.
The fee for the season is £10 for all 6 races and you are given a bib number for the season (advance entry only available to club members) or you can enter on the day for £5 (plus additional charge of £2 for insurance if you are not a member of an England Athletics affiliated club). There are not advance entries for individual races. Entry on the day is open to all.
At the end of the season, there is the awards ceremony, followed by a social.
